Sorrel aka Hibiscus Tea
Sorrel is a simple, tart and delicious beverage that can be served warm or cold.

  • 1/2 cup dried sorrel
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground clove 1 if using a whole clove
  • to taste sweetener of choice honey, coconut sugar, coconut nectar

  • 1/2 cup dried sorrel
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 inch fresh ginger

Sorrel aka Hibiscus Tea
Instructions
  1. Put dried sorrel and water into a pot on high heat and bring to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Add ginger and clove. Stir to incorporate.
  4. Add sweetener of choice to taste and stir to dissolve.
  5. Cover and remove from heat. Let steep for 30 minutes.
  6. Strain into a pitcher to remove sorrel leaves and ginger.
  7. Refrigerate to chill before serving.
  8. To serve add 1/2 cup of sorrel to 1/4 - 1/2 cup of cold water, pour over ice and enjoy!
Recipe Notes

You can add additional spices to taste. Suggestions: star anise, allspice, cinnamon.
You can steep for a longer period of time, even up to overnight.
